The Red Line

A girl cycles outside the walls of the Nallur Temple

Cycling is the most common mode of transport here. All the women I saw were accustomed to cycling it. That's a rare sight in Colombo where it would probably invite cat calls from the city's ever present rasthiadu (jobless) fellows.

Plenty of women and girls on bicycles and mo bikes in Negombo.

I think it just the danger of traffic in Colombo that makes using a bicycle discouraging. Dont see too many males on bicycles either in Colombo

Cat call's whistles that is a universal male thing. Female and Pretty; walk by a construction site in the US during a break. Specially if manned by Irish, you are going to get whistles and comments galore.
