Back from Heaven on Earth

And I'm back! Fully exhausted and utterly dirty from my tour of Jammu and Kashmir. Also made a halt at Himachal Pradesh on the way back. Was a long 30 hour train journey to and fro. And plenty travelling to reach our various destinations in the state..I'd say we averaged 200km everyday just site seeing. Was a brilliant experience anyhow... I got to see some of the world's most beautiful people and places.
I'll be uploading the photos soon...
So watch this space for more..

Hi Aamina, Would love to hear more info on your tour as most of my family will go to India this summer to do some climbing. They will be going to Nepal,Tibet etc for the climbs. but will land in India initially go to Himchal Pradesh. Any pointers, that I could pass along?

Hey Kalusudda...

The terrain was very unconsistent..
one moment you'll pass snowy hills and the next barren sandy ones. Since they are going in summer the climb should be much easier compared to winter where many areas are off limits to vehicles and are too snowed in for climbing...

Himachal Pradesh has many tourist destinations like Manali and Shimla which offer plenty of extreme sport adventures.
Oxygen levels will be low at high altitudes so be sure to eat and rest well.

I spent most of my tour in Ladakh which is in Kashmir and also borders Tibet. If they have the time they should halt there. It's a very beautiful region known for its buddhist monasteries. The region is also home to Pangong Lake which lies in the Himalayan range and extends to China. However most of the journeying was done by bus as the sites are very far apart. Special permits are required to visit certains places in the region so be sure that these are in order.

I wish your family a safe journey.

Thanx for dropping by!
